How long does the passport process take in Colombia?

Having a passport will allow you to identify yourself to the authorities of other countries. For this reason, if you plan to leave the country, you must have this document. How long does the process of processing this credential take?

Please note that according to Resolution 6888 of 2021, the holder will have a maximum period of 6 months to claim it after it has been issued. If the interested party does not manage to withdraw it within this established period of time, it will be canceled and therefore a new process must be started.

According to the information provided by the Foreign Ministry website, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has defined a series of times for you to receive the passport:

– Bogota
: 24-48 hours

– Governorates:
48 hours, in this sense it is recommended to inquire directly at the office of each department to be clear about the delivery time of the passport.

– Colombian Consulates abroad:
In total it will arrive within eight business days taking into account the conditions established by each office.
