Sofía Petro, daughter of President Gustavo Petro, expressed her disagreement with several appointments in the Government. Petro called for coherence in government decisions regarding the fight against gender violence and institutional machismo.
“I disagree with many appointments. I think there is a discourse of violence against women that the government has to make more efforts to dismantle.to reject more forcefully,” he noted.

In his opinion, although there are institutional teams working against this violence, The message must be more consistent from the decisions of those who make up the Government. Petro added that these decisions affect the perception of the Executive’s progress.
“I think that these decisions overshadow the great processes that the government has been giving from different entities,” he stated.
In relation to the lack of gender parity in the presidential cabinet, Sofía Petro recalled having expressed her disagreement directly to the president.

Finally, she expressed her support for the criticism coming from feminist movements and organizations for the appointment in consulates and embassies of people with sexist backgrounds.
