The president of the Council of Ministers, Gustavo Adrianzenfinally admitted that the capture of Iván Quispe Palomino was a mistake on the part of the management of the Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñez
“It was a mistake (to say that it was #2 of Sendero Luminoso). I came out based on the information I receive and without a doubt (there is a problem with the information),” he said on Canal N.
As is known, in October of this year, Minister Santiváñez announced the capture of Iván Quispe Palomino as a great achievement of his administration; they claimed that he was “number two” of the Shining Path.
However, the media quickly reported that Quispe Palomino did not have any arrest warrant and that he is not a member of said terrorist group.
After this, Santiváñez stopped appearing before the media and the prime minister defended the authorities’ version that he did have requirements and was “a terrorist criminal.”
After the obvious confusion, the Judiciary ordered the “immediate release” of Iván Quispe Palomino, after determining that it was “a person other than the ‘requisitioned’ Demetrio Víctor Quispe Palomino who has the aliases of José or Iván or Martín or Juvenal or Darío or Ernesto,” reported the Judiciary on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
