Maduro asks the AN to work on a law that "ends" lies by candidates in elections

According to President Nicolás Maduro, his administration is in the best moment to transfer power to the citizens. Celebrated the election of justices of the peace that were held throughout the country last Sunday, December 15

This December 18, President Nicolás Maduro asked the National Assembly of 2020 to work on developing a law that paves the way to ending “the lie” in politics. He suggested that the instrument prevent candidates from making promises that they later do not keep or sow hatred of their opponents.

For Maduro, it is necessary to work on a reform of all the political methods that exist to make them accessible to citizens. “We should build a new electoral political system, and overcome the old methods of politicking, of electoral manipulation, and let the common people run their campaigns and access the high positions of the Republic,” he said.

He insisted that in the presidential campaign the opposition sector that supported the candidacy of Edmundo González Urrutia and that is led by María Corina Machado tried to “generate hatred” and create a “civil war.” According to Maduro, the plan sought to seize power through violence.

He called, although he later clarified that he was joking, on the National Electoral Council to organize “rapid and manual” elections for all electoral processes that allow this “model” to be consolidated in the nation.

According to President Nicolás Maduro, his administration is in the best moment to transfer power to the citizens. He celebrated the election of justices of the peace that were held throughout the country last Sunday, December 15.

«25 years later, we are in the best moment to transfer all power to the people of Venezuela. To build comprehensive power at the grassroots,” the president said this Wednesday, December 18, during a meeting with justices of the peace held in Caracas.

Maduro pointed out that the elections, in which 28,374 justices of the peace were chosen, were an “impeccable, beautiful” electoral process, where the neighbors have participated in an incredible process.

He accused Leopoldo López of directing, through Gilber Caro, the criminal organization “Tren de Aragua” from Spain and the United States to Venezuela.

On the other hand, he congratulated the National Assembly for sanctioning laws this year that in his opinion shield Venezuela from attacks, among them the Law that regulates NGOs, the Law against Fascism and the Liberator Simón Bolívar Law.
