Seminarian found dead in the cloister of the La Merced convent - Cusco

Early last Wednesday, the remains of a seminarian were removed from the facilities of the La Merced convent in Cusco, after the student was found lifeless inside his room.

The information was corroborated by the Police, who indicated that they received the alert last Tuesday night, when personnel from the aforementioned convent found one of its seminarians suspended by a strap in the toilets of its cloister.

“We received a complaint indicating that a priest student had been found hanging, suspended in the bathroom of his dormitory, the staff verified that this person was suspended with a strap, He was only wearing a polo shirt, he had no underwear, the Prosecutor’s Office was immediately called and the body was removed to see if it was self-elimination or something else.”quoted the commissioner of Cusco, PNP commander Carlos Arroyo.

The police chief also mentioned that the victim was identified as José Luis Allca Pauro (27), native of Puno, who had arrived in Cusco as a seminarian to be a priest of the Mercedarian order.

“His room was found messy and tests are being carried out to reliably determine if it is a self-elimination. His mother arrived today, they are from Puno. They have reported that the person in the morning hours did not maintain communication with anyone, That’s why in the afternoon they went to investigate and verified the unfortunate situation,” the police officer said.
