The anti-narcotics institution indicated that operational and reaction teams, after receiving an early warning that several individuals aboard a fast boat (type Go Fast) had the intention of introducing a significant shipment of suspected drugs into the country, deployed joint and combined efforts. to neutralize the operation.

Indeed, after several hours of intense pursuit, the acting units managed to board the vessel of about 23 feet in length, several nautical miles south of Cabo Rojo, province of Pedernales, where they confiscated a total of 23 bales, containing a total of 641 packages, presumably cocaine.
In the intervention, two men of Dominican nationality were arrested and a 5.56 caliber rifle was also seized, with its charger and 05 capsules, a Garmin brand GPS, several fuel jugs and other evidence.
Official agencies are investigating whether this seizure has any relationship with the shipment of 958 packages of cocaine and marijuana, seized from five Dominicans aboard a boat, in that same area last weekend.
“Within the framework of the new strategies, the security agencies of the Dominican Republic continue to develop mixed operations, deploying their tactical capabilities and denying air, sea and land spaces to criminal organizations at the service of drug trafficking,” indicated the DNCD.
The institution reported that a total of 43,135 kilograms (43.1 tons) have been confiscated during 2024, with the month of December being the month with the highest seizures with 11,694 kilograms.
The detainees were placed at the disposal of the Pedernales Permanent Attention Jurisdiction to learn about coercive measures in the next few hours, while the 641 packages of the substance were sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to determine the type. and the exact weight of the shipment.
