Derailment closes Coral and Safira lines in São Paulo

The derailment of a freight train partially blocked the circulation of trains on Lines 11-Coral and 12-Safira, of the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) this Wednesday morning (18), in São Paulo.Derailment closes Coral and Safira lines in São Paulo

According to the latest update from CPTM, trains on line 11-Coral run on a single track and with longer intervals between Tatuapé and Brás stations. 12-Sapphire is in the process of being standardized. The Expresso Aeroporto, which was temporarily suspended, resumed circulation at 7am.

“Technicians from the company work together with MRS Logística to remove cargo wagons from the tracks and assess possible damage caused. There are no reports of injuries. The causes of the accident will be investigated by CPTM and MRS”, says a note from CPTM.

In the early hours of this Wednesday, around 2:10 am, an MRS Logística freight train derailed near CPTM Brás station. CPTM reported that the circulation of trains on lines 11-Coral and 12-Safira began with a partial closure on the stretch between Tatuapé, Brás and Luz stations, without interference with Service 710.

According to the company, 57 Paese System buses were requested between Brás and Tatuapé stations, in addition to the release of integrations with the Metro at Tatuapé and Corinthians-Itaquera stations, to serve passengers on the stretch.
