Social Fund receives registrations for sets of study supplies
Starting today, construction workers from the department of Cerro Largo will be able to go to the SUNCA headquarters in Melo to express their interest in accessing one of the benefits offered by the Social Fund.
The registration period is open for what will be prior to the start of the next school year for sets of study supplies both for children in initial and primary education as well as for adolescents and young people who will attend secondary education in high schools and technical schools in the department.
“We are informing all Cerro Largo construction workers that starting today, Wednesday, December 18, between 9:30 and 18:30, we will be receiving all the documentation for the delivery of the sets of supplies.” confirmed Walter Moraiz.
“They must present the worker’s Identity Card, a salary receipt, the Identity Card of the minor or the minor who attends school, high school or UTU.” detailed the Social Fund Reference for Cerro Largo. “With that they come and we register them. The Social Fund is an achievement of the construction union after long years of struggle. “Back in the 70s there was a fight to have a Social Fund precisely to help workers. For it to work there are contributions from workers and businessmen.” he remembered.
Moraiz estimates that this year the number of registered participants will increase taking into account the opening of new works that demand a greater amount of labor. “In 2023, just over 200 were registered. We think that we are going to be a little higher because there are a number of important works in the department such as LUMIN and Conversora itself where there are many workers” he pointed out.
The service will be available from Monday to Friday with extended hours until February 20, 2025, except December 25, January 1 and January 6, days when the Construction Union headquarters will remain closed. “During the leave we will also attend” reported.
