Yape expands functionalities: it now allows transfers and payments in dollars

Yape, the digital wallet of the Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP), has expanded its operations in foreign currency. From now on, users will be able to make dollar transfers between accounts of the same currency and pay for services in dollars directly from the application.

The new functionality allows yaperos to send dollars to a contact with an account in the same currency, making foreign currency transfers easier. This option is available for those who already have a BCP dollar account. If you don’t have one, you can easily open it from the application. The minimum amount per operation is US$1, while the maximum daily and per operation limit is US$500.

Regarding the payment of services, Yaperos will be able to pay for more than 100 services in dollars, belonging to sectors such as telephone and cable, education, online shopping, insurance, finance, and associations. The limits for these payments are the same as those that apply to payments in soles: up to S/2,000 daily and S/20,000 monthly.

“We are very happy with what we have been achieving with the functionality, since, at the end of November, we exceeded US$90 million exchanged within Yape; And with these new features we seek to promote the use of dollars within our super app beyond buying and selling,” commented Carolina Arbulú, Head of Products at Yape.

Currently, Yape, which has more than 17 million users, offers more than 10 functionalities, among which money transfers, access to microcredits, cell phone recharge, reception of remittances, payment of services, Yape Tienda, Yape Tickets, Yape stand out. Promos and options to travel by bus, among others.
