New trucks They have a load capacity of 10 tons
With the presence of the entire Team of the General Directorate of the Environment, the two new units that the Municipality of Cerro Largo acquired to reinforce the public waste collection system were presented on the morning of this Tuesday, December 17.
These trucks, with a loading capacity of 10 tons, will not only be operational in the city of Melo, but will also travel the streets of the different Municipalities.
“It was something we needed. Those two trucks have already left for work. These are two Mercedes Benz units with rear pickup. From now on they are available in the collection area. The purchase was made with trust money. It’s been a week since they finished paying and they are ready to leave.” express Emilio Dominguez at a press conference that was held on July 18 and Gutiérrez Ruiz.
With this acquisition, the Collection Area will have a fleet of 6 trucks, which will result in an improvement in service.
“The private company –in charge of collection in the city center- It is also with vehicles. We are going to put about 60 more containers onto the streets soon. They are being repaired to change them” announced the Director of Environment.
A BETTER SERVICE TO THE POPULATION
“Having two new trucks gives us tremendous peace of mind because we had a lot of work this year when the ones we have broke down. We even had only one working. Now with this we gain peace of mind. “This way in summer the collection service will work well.” manifested Gabriel Billafán.
“In the morning a truck will leave to work the entire axis of Route 7 and the other will do zone 4. In the afternoon they will work in zone 2 and zone 3, which would be the northern and western zones of Melo” he explained.
“These new units are larger than the ones we had. It has a load capacity of 10,000 kilos. For the Municipalities they are better, that’s why we put it on route 7, for example, Fraile Muerto, which leaves on Mondays and even two trips were needed. With this on a trip we only do it” he assured.

Gabriel Billafán urged the population not to throw garbage around the dump trucks. “The containers should only be used to deposit household waste because it is lifted every day.
