The Public Ministry reported this Monday that between December 10 and 14, it requested and was subsequently agreed upon by the Judiciary, 179 reviews of measures for defendants following the acts of violence that occurred after the presidential elections of July 28.
The organization detailed, through a statement, that in total 533 measures have been requested and agreed upon, within the framework of due process guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic.
“The MP, together with the rest of the institutions of the Venezuelan State, reaffirms its commitment to peace, justice and human rights,” the text states.
In November, the attorney general of the Republic, Tarek William Saabreported that 225 freedom measures were granted and executed to people prosecuted for the acts of violence recorded after the elections of July 28.
On that occasion, the attorney general confirmed that the freedoms were granted as a result of the joint work of the Public Ministry and the Judiciary, and that no non-governmental organization (NGO) can award them.
