Military authorities carried out a search in the Coro Penitentiary Community, an establishment where 1,422 prisoners are held, according to military sources. In the midst of the search, the authorities of the Ministry for the Penitentiary Service identified 52 negative leaders who charged the population for visits, cell phones and drug possession, the source said.
These 52 subjects were transferred to the Yare III Maximum Security Center, located in the Valles del Tuy (Miranda). Among them are members of the criminal group “Chiche Smitch”, prosecuted for drug trafficking.
The search was carried out by agents of the Bolivarian National Guard and the Immediate Response and Custody Group, who seized 55 cell phones, 71 cigarettes, 7 scales, 368 boxes of cigarettes, 135 grams of cocaine base paste and 130 packs of chimó.
This operation, called Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro, is still active in the Coro Penitentiary Community.
