Acclaimed director Luca Guadagnino, responsible for hits such as
“Call Me By Your Name” and “Suspiria”come back with “Queer”an intense and deeply moving film based on the novel of the same name by William Burroughs. Starring a surprising Daniel Craig, who breaks with his traditional image to give life to a heartbreaking character, “Queer” has been described as one of the most audacious film proposals of the year.

Premiered on December 12 in Bolivia, the film invites the public to immerse themselves in an emotional journey that explores the limits of desire, loneliness and the search for connection in a fragmented world. Set in 1950s Mexico City, it follows the story of William Lee, an American expatriate trapped in addiction and isolation, until he meets Eugene Allerton, a former soldier who awakens in him a spark of hope and redemption.

An extraordinary cast and a luxury creative team
Daniel Craig’s performance has been acclaimed for its vulnerability and honesty, while Drew Starkey, as Allerton, completes a cast that brings this complex story to life. Guadagnino highlights: “From the beginning I knew that Daniel’s commitment was total. “What he has done with the character of William Lee is simply amazing.”.

The director also noted how Burroughs’ literary legacy inspired his vision: “William Burroughs has been an anchor point in my creativity. With queerI have tried to capture the intensity of his words on the screen”.

The film, presented at the Venice Film Festival, has received enthusiastic reviews from international media pFor its impeccable visual approach, deep narrative and memorable performances, “Queer” promises to be a must-see talking point for movie buffs. This week, Bolivian viewers have the opportunity to live this unique experience in the country’s cinemas.
