Southern Peru reported that it reached “unprecedented” agreements with five of its union organizations, ensuring benefits and working conditions for large mining workers, despite the turbulent and uncertain political environment in Peru.
The Southern unions that signed extensions of the current collective agreements were: Union of Refinery Employees, Single Union of Workers of Cuajone and Annexes Operations, Union of Workers of Ilo, the Broad Union of Workers of Toquepala and the Unified Union of SPCC Worker and Annexes.
With these agreements, more than 2,000 workers and their families are assured of increased annual remuneration, benefits and working conditions until the years 2031, 2032 and 2033.
“The company has expressed its confidence in the development of the country, as well as in its workforce, based on dialogue and good faith, respecting the exercise of the right to collective bargaining,” he indicated.
He specified that he is in negotiation with the Toquepala and Annexes Workers Union, with which he hopes to reach a good understanding that benefits the parties.
