The province of Puerto Plata faces a critical situation, due to the intense rains recorded in the last hours of this Sunday, which have caused floods in various locations, especially in the municipality of Villa Isabelaas reported this Sunday by the Civil defense.
One of the most serious problems reported by floods It is the lack of communication of several routes, which are main. The highway that connects Estero Hondo with Villa Isabela remains blocked by the flooding of Caño Miguel, while the road between Villa Isabela and Gualete is closed due to the overflowing of the Gualete River, which has made access and traffic in the area difficult.
Regarding damage to homes, the community of Cañada Grande is one of the most affected, with at least 15 houses flooded due to the entry of water.
These families have suffered significant material damage, according to reports from authorities and testimonies from local residents.
The Civil defensein coordination with the municipal authorities and the mayors of the affected sectors, is deploying efforts to provide immediate assistance.
