With a view to overcoming the electoral defeat suffered this year in 2027, the PAN agreed on a strategy based on full opening
towards citizenship, both in affiliations and in the assignment of candidates, in addition to reviewing its alliance policy and establishing that all candidates, including multi-member candidates, participate in the campaigns.
These were the main agreements of the first National Council of the blue and white held yesterday under the leadership of Jorge Romero Herrera, recently elected as national president of the PAN, who insisted that his party can become competitive
in the midterm elections that will be held in three years.
In a speech of more than an hour before that National Council, Romero spoke out in favor of calling for the formation of a single national electoral table, with the same strategy
of obtaining votes; concentrate efforts in the districts where the party has a better chance of winning and where the PAN candidates The citizens choose them, not the leadership
.
Likewise, he called to anticipate the candidate selection processes towards 2027, to open them no later than March 2025; promote that all multi-member candidates participate in the campaigns of single-member districts, and prioritize outreach to women and young people.
The event was attended by the governors of Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, and Guanajuato, as well as Mauricio Kuri, from Querétaro, as well as figures who had distanced themselves from the party, such as deputies Germán Martínez Cázares, Margarita Zavala and former senator Roberto Gil. Likewise, the former presidential candidate Ricardo Anaya and the former national leader Damián Zepeda.
However, the absence of former senator Adriana Dávila, who lost in the internal elections to Jorge Romero, was also notable.
Once the permanent commission and the portfolios of the National Executive Committee have been convened and installed, in addition to creating a special planning commission, the scientific preparation of this strategic plan will begin and this leadership will convene the twentieth extraordinary national assembly to reform our statutes.
Romero said.
Yesterday the names of the permanent commission were announced, which was formed and approved unanimously with 30 candidates proposed by Romero and another 10 chosen by that Council. The list was made up of 20 men and 20 women.
Among the people named by the national leader of the party are Santiago Creel, Santiago Taboada – indicated as part of the call real estate mafia
–, Adriana Dávila and the aforementioned PAN governors of Aguascalientes, Chihuahua and Guanajuato. Likewise, Itzel Arellano was appointed treasurer of the PAN.
