Scherer Ibarra resigned from his position on September 1, 2021, the date on which President Andrés Manuel L’ópez Obrador submitted his Third Government Report. The position was not filled, but the legal matters were entrusted to Adán Augusto López, who on that same date assumed the Ministry of the Interior, after the departure of Olga Sánchez Cordero.
For his part, Santiago Nieto maintained that during his administration, no investigation was “closed.” With this message, the former head of the FIU reappeared on the public scene after his resignation on November 8, 2021 after it was revealed that he had an ostentatious wedding with Carla Humphrey, adviser to the National Electoral Institute, which contradicted the speech of the republican austerity of the president.

The complaint of Juan Collado
The former legal adviser to the Federal Executive responded to the information published by the newspaper Reform about filing a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office in which Collado states that lawyers “close to Scherer” asked him to hand over his company Caja Libertad to Banco Afirme, owned by Julio César Villarreal Guajardo, a supposed friend of Scherer, in addition to 2,000 million pesos, to set him free. The same information published the site Political Animal.
