The Minister of the Interior, Juan Fernando Cristo, confirmed this Thursday, December 12, that to face the final stretch of Gustavo Petro’s presidential term, which will end in 2026, The Government will make a ministerial shake-up at the beginning of next year.
“Resignations and a cabinet reorganization are coming”said Cristo, who recalled that these changes had already been warned by President Petro.
“The President had already announced it. Obviously he is the one who makes the decisions that will surely be made in January, at the beginning of the year, to define the last stretch of the National Government. But it will be the President himself who makes the announcements”added Minister Cristo.
It should be noted that starting next year a period of Guarantees Lawwhich prohibits state entities from holding direct contracts during the months prior to the presidential election and until the date on which the new President of the Republic is elected, which is why the changes must be made in the first part of 2025.
