SLP, Mexico.- The IX plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), announced that they “released” the official Lázaro Expósito Cantoone of its well-known leaders, who led the Party in Santiago de Cuba for 12 years.
A note published in official site of the Presidency of Cuba noted that the “liberation” occurred “after recognizing his outstanding career and contributions to the Party.”
The regime’s communists, who chose a euphemism to name Expósito’s dismissal, praised his work as secretary in the provinces of Granma and Santiago de Cuba, and highlighted his “limitless consecration, sensitivity, ability to bring together the collective will, creativity and loyalty; that earned him the admiration of the people.
Expósito Canto remained at the head of the PCC in Santiago de Cuba for 12 years, after heading the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power of Caibarién, Villa Clara, and having been first secretary of the PCC in Santa Clara and Granma.
However, in 2021, the PCC announced his departure from the position of first secretary of that organization in Santiago de Cuba and his replacement by José Ramón Monteagudo Ruiz.
On that occasion, Roberto Morales Ojeda, secretary of Organization and Cadre Policy of the PCC Central Committee, said that it was a “natural movement and with great admiration from all the people of Santiago for the work done. If we were to say how we would like our liberation, it is like this, like the liberation of Lazarus.”
The information from the official press did not then offer details of the causes of Expósito Canto’s dismissal, although it highlighted his career as a cadre. partisan for more than 20 years.
“In fulfilling his responsibilities, comrade Lázaro Expósito has demonstrated limitless consecration, the ability to bring together the collective will, sensitivity and creativity to face challenges, and absolute loyalty to the revolutionary cause. “His exceptional human qualities have earned him the admiration and recognition of our people.”
Lázaro Expósito Canto has a degree in Marxist-Leninist Philosophy and a Diploma in National Security and Defense.
Prior to his career in front of the PCC In Santiago de Cuba, he was a professional member, vice president and president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power of Caibarién, Villa Clara, a municipality of which he was its First Secretary, as well as in Santa Clara. Between 2001 and 2009 he had served as First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of Granma, “also with notable performance,” reported the official press.
