Petrobras announced this Thursday (12) the hiring of two shipyards in Santa Catarina for the construction and charter of 12 Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) type vessels, used to provide maritime support by supplying structures such as oil platforms and platform ships. . The contracts total R$16.5 billion, and the contracted companies are Bram Offshore and Starnav Serviços Marítimos, located respectively in Navegantes and Itajaí. 
The announcement was made by the president of Petrobras, Magda Chambriard, during the meeting of the Council for Sustainable Economic and Social Development (CDESS), in Brasília.
The vessels are considered fundamental for the company’s exploration and production logistics operations until 2028. Magda Chambriard predicts that 11 thousand direct and indirect jobs should be created.
The contracts provide for a requirement of 40% local content during the construction phase, and include a period of up to 4 years for mobilization and 12 years of operation of the vessels.
According to the president of Petrobras, the ships meet “the highest environmental, social and governance standards, essential for a sustainable future”.
The ships will feature a hybrid propulsion system, which combines electric motors and batteries with generators powered by diesel and biodiesel.
