Yenifer Pérez, the representative of Nicaragua, stood out on Thursday night in the thirteenth edition of Miss Latin America in which she was crowned vice-queen of the pageant, managing to go hand in hand with the candidate from Argentina who in the end emerged as the winner of the event.
The rally took place in Panama City. Pérez had an impeccable participation in the event, so much so that he won for Nicaragua the most important prizes of the contest: Best National Costume, Best Silhouette and Best Catwalk. After the gala dress parade, she was called to the top seven and entered the only round of questions.
Pérez was asked what is her greatest weakness and how would you strengthen it? The young woman from the capital responded:
«One of my greatest weaknesses is definitely believing that because I have limited resources I cannot fulfill my dreams, but I have been strengthening it, educating myself, being disciplined and responsible (…)».
The Nicaraguan candidate supported her response by highlighting Nicaragua’s victory in Miss Universe 2023 with Sheynnis Palacios, who won the crown despite having limited financial resources.
“We have a Miss Universe who has gotten ahead without needing great wealth, because the spirit is what counts every day to get ahead,” he pointed out.
After Cuba became the first Princess of Latin America, Nicaragua was called to win the title of Vicereine of Latin America and Argentina was crowned as the new Miss Latin America 2024.
After the election, beauty experts and followers of the pageant criticized Argentina’s victory. “She (Pérez) was the real Miss Latin America 2024, it was Nicaragua, what a joke with Argentina,” Isai Espinoza commented on the beauty portal Premium Missology.

The Venezuelan missologist Eliuth Mendoza commented on his Nueva Era portal that Pérez’s participation was the most outstanding of the contest; However, not winning the crown will be an advantage for Yenifer, since she has the possibility of participating in a contest of grand slam in which he stated will not go unnoticed.
This is the third time that Nicaragua has managed to qualify for the top seven of Miss Latin America. In 2023, Nicolle López managed to position herself as fourth finalist and in 2022, Odalis Soza obtained third place and was crowned Princess of Latin America.
