Hotels will be fined up to 2 UIT if they do not register foreigners on the virtual platform

Since yesterday, hotels, lodgings and landlords have the obligation to comply with the registration of foreign citizens on the free virtual platform enabled by the National Superintendence of Migration. “On October 21, Supreme Decree No. 011-2024 was issued, which orders that hotels, lodgings and/or tenants register the foreigners they are going to host, whether for a few days or for a long term. First, the owners and/or administrators of the hotels have to register on the Migration platform, and they will obtain a user so that they can begin to use the digital platform and register foreigners in real time,” said the Huancayo zonal head of the National Superintendency. of Migrations, Jorge Alarcón Corzo.

Obligations

According to the regulations, people who fail to comply with the provision can be fined up to 2 Tax Tax Units (UIT) which are equivalent to S/10,300. “For not requesting the foreign person’s travel or identity documents that authorized their entry into the national territory, the fine is one UIT; for providing accommodation without registering the nationality, date of birth, full names and surnames, as well as the identity or travel document number of the foreign person they host, the sanction is one ITU; and for not sending to Migrations the registration or information of the foreign person who is hosting, the fine amounts to 2 UIT,” said Alarcón Corzo.

He announced that they will request from the corresponding institutions the list of lodgings and hotels so that Migrations can carry out training for the staff and use the digital platform in the transmission of the required data, and not be sanctioned when operations are carried out. “We have a schedule of inspection and control operations for foreigners in the area of our jurisdiction such as Junín, Pasco, Huancavelica,” he noted. The measure, in turn, aims to prevent accommodations from being used for illicit purposes by foreigners.

It is the responsibility of hotels and tenants to demand the presentation of current documents that prove the identity of the foreigner. “When a foreigner wants to stay, the hotel has to request documentation such as a passport if they are tourism, or an immigration card or temporary residence permit card if they are residents. It is important that you enter the date of entry until the date you leave; If foreigners want to rent a house or apartment, it is also mandatory,” he indicated. Then, register it on the Migrations platform. And facilitate access to Immigrations to carry out immigration inspection and verification tasks.

Situation

Alarcón Corzo said that, in recent years, about 8 thousand foreigners have arrived in the jurisdiction, of which 6 thousand completed procedures at Immigration. “They seek to regularize their immigration situation,” he said.

He emphasized that it is important that you regularize your immigration status so that you can access basic services. “The primary thing is the internal security of the country, identifying the foreigners who are in national territory and giving them documents that can identify them, and when they require health care or if they have minors to study, they must have the alien card or identity card. temporary,” concluded the Immigration official.
