Miguel Rincón, 'Comrade Francisco', leader of the MRTA, dies in terrorist prison

The terrorist Miguel Rincón Rincón, leader of the Túpac Amaru Revolutionary Movement Movement (MRTA), died after suffering from terminal cancer, as reported by the INPE, through its social networks. His illness was in the fourth phase.

“The inmate Miguel Wenceslao Rincón Rincón held in the Maximum Security Detention Center of the Callao Naval Base – CEREC (CEREC), died today after suffering from an irreversible illness,” reads his publication in X.

In 1995, the head of the MRTA was captured in a fierce confrontation between police officers in a house in the La Molina district. A cell of 25 terrorists was dismantled. Former inmate Lori Berenson also fell into that special operation.

Military and police confronted these terrorists in Alameda del Corregidor, in La Molina. During the confrontation, several hostages were freed, including a woman and her maid. A police officer was injured and was evacuated by his colleagues. The terrorists, in their attempt to flee, dynamited walls and took refuge in a house, where their surrender was finally negotiated.

The Police found plans and models of the Congress of the Republic, which indicated an upcoming attack planned at that time. Two civilians died that night, and Miguel Rincón was sentenced to life in prison. However, his sentence was reduced to 32 years in prison.
