MIAMI, United States. – Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger, the main Meta applications, present interruptions in different parts of the world, according to user reports confirmed by the platform Downdetector.
Although so far there is no official statement from the company led by Mark Zuckerberg, reports indicate that in most cases, when trying to access the social network Facebookthe page displays the message “Sorry, something went wrong,” while other services are experiencing problems sending and receiving messages.
According to the information collected so far, the drop does not appear to be uniform. While many users have stated on the X network (formerly Twitter) that they cannot use Instagram, WhatsApp or Messenger, others claim to be able to access some of these applications without problems. From Spain, for example, Instagram and WhatsApp have been able to be used partially, while in other regions the failures have been more severe.
It is not the first time that Meta platforms have recorded massive interruptions. In 2021, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were inaccessible for several hours. More recently, during 2024, specific outages have been reported in WhatsApp on dates such as June 27. On that occasion, the basic functions for sending texts, voice notes and images failed, both in the mobile application and in the web version.
Likewise, on August 2, 2023, similar problems were recorded in several Latin American countries and the United States, making it difficult to send messages through WhatsApp. On the other hand, on October 14, 2024, Facebook and Instagram suffered a global crash that especially impacted users in Mexico and Colombia.
