This announcement will mark the formation of the team that will accompany him from March 1, 2025, when he takes office as president.
So far, Orsi has confirmed four key members of his administration. Gabriel Oddone will occupy the Ministry of Economy, in an appointment announced before the October elections. Alejandro “Pacha” Sánchez will be the secretary of the Presidency, while Jorge Díaz will take over as deputy secretary. In addition, this Monday it was confirmed that Diego Pastorín will be in charge of the General Directorate of the Presidency, a position he already held during the governments of José Mujica and Tabaré Vázquez, between 2010 and 2020.
Pastorín, a lawyer by profession, has an outstanding career in public administration. He was a member of the board of directors of the Agency for Electronic Government and Information and Knowledge Society (AGESIC) and chaired the Steering Committee of the Spatial Data Infrastructure (IDE) between 2014 and 2020. More recently, since November 2023, he was part of the OSE Board of Directors, replacing Edgardo Ortuño.
The rest of the ministers and undersecretaries that will make up Uruguay’s 14 ministries will be announced in the announcement on December 17, after several political meetings held at the Hampton by Hilton Hotel, headquarters of Orsi’s command. Asked about possible advances, the president-elect assured that he will not confirm other names before that date, seeking to maintain order in the communication of the appointments.
