Martínez Barraza is identified as the operator of a cell of hitmen that supplies firearms and drugs to “Los Chapitos.”
According to reports from the Security Cabinet, this individual planned to carry out attacks against public buildings with improvised explosive devices in the El Dorado area, as well as execute the owner of a business.
Through intelligence work, the authorities also learned that Martínez Barraza was in charge of orchestrating the attacks against a “Los Mayos” cell in the same municipality.
The other detainee is identified as the main collaborator of Martínez Barraza, in charge of the sale and distribution of drugs, in addition to being a trusted person of operators of the Pacific Cartel.
Both are linked to the criminal cell led by Raúl Carrasco Lechuga, former operational leader of the Cartel who was killed on June 23, 2024.
The capture of these two people, in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office, was considered a priority for federal forces in order to advance the reduction of violence in Sinaloa.
“The institutions of the Security Cabinet reiterate their commitment to work in a coordinated manner to identify and stop the generators of violence that cause harm to citizens in the country,” added the Security Cabinet.
