Venezuelan opposition denounces Russian espionage to Colombia from Venezuela

Venezuelan opposition leader Julio Borges denounced in an op-ed that at least 15 Russian agents would be making presence at a military base in Apure statebordering Colombia, to develop different actions focused on spying on communications.

According to Borges, there are more than 60 Russian agents spread throughout Venezuela to perform signal detection tasks that would seek obtain information from military installations in countries in the region such as Colombia.

Given this complaint, the Russian ambassador in Bogotá, Nikolay Tavdumadzetold the Colombian government that military cooperation work between Russia and Venezuela they do not have in their objectives to watch, spy or monitor the Colombian authorities.

The vice president and chancellor, Marta Lucía Ramírez, He explained that “the Russian ambassador has told us that no military cooperation from Russia to Venezuela will be used never for a military action against Colombia and any country in Latin Americanor to affect the stability of the region.
