President Jair Bolsonaro said today (27) that Brazil’s vote on a United Nations (UN) resolution on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is free, with balance.
He added that Brazil does not defend “any sanction or condemnation of President Putin”.
“Our position has to be very cautious, we cannot when trying to solve a case that is serious, no one is in favor of war anywhere in the world, we bring very serious problems for all humanity and for our country that is also in this context ”, he said at a press conference at Forte dos Andradas, in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo.
Conversation with Putin
Bolsonaro also said that this Sunday he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone about the war and trade issues, such as the importation of fertilizers by Brazil. “I have been talking to President Putin, more than two hours of conversation. We handle a lot. The issue of fertilizers was the most important. We handle our trade. And obviously he said something about Ukraine, but I reserve myself not to go into details the way you would like,” Bolsonaro said.
For the president, the conflict should soon reach a solution. “I don’t believe it will last. Even because of the war difference from one country to another. We hope that NATO countries [Organização do Tratado do Atlântico Norte] do not potentiate this problem that is about to be solved, in my opinion”, he declared.
