Nicolás Maduro indicated that he is observing the development of “painful” circumstances for the people of Syria and highlighted that, “the shameless men and women of fascist extremism want to ask that a civil war be started in Venezuela.”


President Nicolás Maduro assured, this Monday, December 9, that in Venezuela there will always be peace, stability and national unity, this in reference to the fall of the Bashar al Assad regime, at the head of the Syrian government since 2000.

In this sense, Maduro indicated that he is observing the development of “painful” circumstances for the people of Syria. “Now the shameless ones, the shameless ones of fascist extremism, are coming out to ask that a civil war be started in Venezuela,” he said.

He indicated that the Constitution will always prevail among the people of Venezuela: “make no mistake, because the people of Venezuela, in a perfect fusion, popular-military-police, will triumph on the path of peace. Neither Iraq, nor Libya, nor Ukraine yesterday, nor civil war today.”

The president gave a warning to the “imperialists” and “fascists”: “They will regret it for 100 years, for having dared to touch the sacred peace and stability and union of our beloved Venezuela.”

Maduro’s statements come after opposition leader María Corina Machado assured that the fall of Bashar Al Assad demoralized and created enormous concern in those around him.

During a virtual conference at Johns Hopkins University, with academic Anne Applebaum and political leader David Smolansky, Machado stated that the case of Syria sends a message to “skeptics” who believe that it is not possible to overthrow “authoritarian regimes like the of Maduro.”

“If Syria did not have Russia, Iran and Hezbollah, what makes you think that Maduro did? On the contrary,” Machado assured.

The opposition leader stated that, “this idea of ​​Al Assad leaving the country and leaving behind some people who supported him, his closest allies, I think it is something that creates enormous concern in some of those who support Maduro now. ”.
