New air connections between Peru with countries in Asia and Europeas well as an increase in weekly flights between Madrid and Lima are ready to operate next year, according to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
According to the agenda, by mid-2025, the Turkish airline Turkish Airlines plans to connect Istanbul with Lima, which represents the first air connection between Turkey and Peru.
“This initiative would open new air connectivity options to facilitate the flow of tourists from Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe,” said Mincetur.
Likewise, the Spanish airline Plus Ultra announced the increase in its flight frequencies between Madrid and Lima. Starting in April 2025, the airline will go from four to five weekly flights on this route, until reaching six weekly flights in July 2025, with the aim of meeting growing demand and consolidating its presence in our country.
The institution added that it has identified the interest of the Swiss airline Edelweiss in operating the Zurich-Lima route in the medium term, during its participation in Routes World 2024. However, it indicated that said initiative is conditional on the development of an incentive plan that makes the operation of this flight more attractive.
“Air connectivity is not only a means to bring us together physically, but also a strategic tool to expand our commercial relationships and promote a deeper cultural exchange with the world,” said the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Desilú León.

The minister highlighted that Mincetur is working on the development of the National Tourism Policy, a multi-sector document that will guide the priority objectives of the sector, among which is the strengthening of air connectivity in Peru, as an essential element for tourism development. .
“Together, we can continue building a Peru that is more accessible and attractive to the entire world. Let us work together to turn the tourism potential of our country into a tangible reality that provides development, inclusion and prosperity to all Peruvians,” he concluded.
