One dead and 15 injured left a head-on collision between two vehicles on the Panamericana Sur Highway, kilometer 122, on the route between Ilo and Tacna.

The collision occurred between vehicles marked as the white Toyota combi with license plate VFL-954 with the “personnel transport” badge and the yellow Hyundai Sonata model car with license plate A6S-483.
Dead and injured
The fatal victim was identified as the driver of the Sonata vehicle Julio César Choquecota Copari (42), residing in the La Colina Store Association in Alto Pocollay in Tacna who was traveling from south to north.
The injured are Manuel Alfredo Olivares Proaño, Karen Dina Padilla Pineda, Henry Javier Carta Mamani, Irving Flores Baylón, Carlos Espinoza Napan, Luis Valdivia Celis, Abraham Altuna Tocto and Aarón Carlos Alayza Zegarra, who were treated by the doctor on duty Walter González Garrido at the Essalud Ilo hospital. All of them have a diagnosis of multiple contusions due to a traffic accident.

Referred to the Minsa hospital
While Miguel Ruiz Valladares has bruises on his extremities; Erick Ramos Miranda, multiple contusions due to a traffic accident and jaw fracture; Jean Pierre Ramos Aliaga has a blunt cut wound in his left leg; Napoleón Pariona Quispe has a fractured left hip and broken ankle; Erick Arocutipa Condori has bruises on both legs; Luis Arévalo Murallari has a broken left leg and Javier Chambi Chambi has chest trauma. They were referred to the Ministry of Health hospital located in Pampa Inalámbrica.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, for reasons that are still the subject of investigation. The first to arrive at the scene of the collision were the crew members of patrol vessels CL-22626 and CL-22661.
SAMU confirmed the death of the driver
The personnel transport vehicle was heading from north to south while the Hyundai Sonata was heading from Tacna to Ilo and they collided near the Engie plant.
The driver of the Hyundai was trapped between the twisted iron. Emergency Medical Care Service personnel verified that he had no vital signs. The severe damage to the front of both units reflected the magnitude of the traffic accident.
