As of this Monday, December 9, the rate of Bs 2.37 applies, the amount agreed upon by the transporters and the Neighborhood Councils last Saturday, to avoid the indefinite strike of the micro drivers. However, some users indicated that they pay only Bs 2 and others Bs 2.50, directly, due to lack of fractional money.
“This issue was politicized, because if they comply with the indefinite strike starting Monday, the victim is the neighbor. I am not a politician, I represent the Neighborhood Councils, the districts and as such we are issuing a resolution, accepting the provisional rate of Bs 2.37, which was suggested by Mayor Jhonny Fernández himself”, Orlando Peña, representative of the neighborhood councils, reported on Saturday afternoon, after concluding the meeting between neighbors, social control and transporters.
The neighborhood leader assured that the Bs 2.37 is a “rate that the neighbor will be able to pay.”because when (the micro drivers) stop the others (taxis, motorcycle taxis and bulls) take advantage by charging up to Bs 10.”
Lizzi, a neighbor who took line 60 in the Los Lotes area, reported that she paid Bs 2 to the driver and he received it without any problem. However, “there are passengers who get on and ask, to which the driver asks for Bs 2.37 and since they don’t have the exact amount, they pay Bs 2.50“he noted.
José Luis Cortés, from the 3 Pasos Al Frente avenue area, gave a similar story. He took line 49 and stated that he also paid Bs 2 directly, without consulting.
From Social Control
For his part, Antonio Ortiz, as Secretary of Social Control, assured that he did not They agree with the determination to pay the Bs 2.37 as determined by the leaders with the transporters. He stated that the official rate is Bs 2 and that the regulations must be respected.
From the Council
The president of the Municipal Council of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Silvana Mucarzel, holds nothing back when it comes to establishing a position on the issues that involve the deliberative body. He does it with the same vehemence when he addresses Mayor Jhonny Fernández.
The municipal legislator disqualified the agreement between representatives of the Neighborhood Councils and the public transportation leadership due to the passage of older people in the urban area.
“The measure (increase in the fare) assumed by two sectors without the right to do so is absolutely unpopular. “It is outside of any norm and, of course, that has its legal and judicial implications,” he said on Sunday.
