Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Association of Lawyers (ADOMA) formally swore in the electoral commission for the holding of the elections for the period 2025-2027.
The extraordinary assembly, held on November 30, was headed by the National Board of Directors.
During the activity, the president of ADOMA, Jhonny Aristy, welcomed the maturity shown by the leaders of the different lawyers’ union currents to present a consensus proposal from the Electoral Commission.
Aristy urged the holding of a transparent electoral process and that all guarantees be preserved for the candidates, with the massive participation of lawyers, showing the interest that the elections be held in each province of the country. He called for reflection, remembering the situation marked in the last Bar Association elections.
“We cannot fall into the past experience of the Bar Association, which is going through a post-election crisis, and as a consequence has all its activities paralyzed.”
In that sense, the union member submitted a motion so that its work be directed by José Rafael Medrano and Juan Rivera, who became president and secretary for these purposes. This proposal was approved unanimously and the swearing-in took place immediately.
Likewise, he explained that the electoral commission was made up of the prominent jurists Paul José Maldonado Bueno (President), Fernando Alberto Lebron Torres (Alternate President), Manuel Mateo Calderón (Secretary), Luis Manuel Peña (Alternate Secretary), Manuel Emilio Galván Luciano ( Regular Member), Mercedes Laurencio Heredia (Substitute Member), Omar José García Castillo (Regular Member), Jaime Francisco Carrasco Batista (Member Substitute), Héctor Bienvenido Ferreras García (Regular Member), Manuel Arturo Diaz Vargas (Substitute Member).
He added that all the proposals presented to the assembly were approved unanimously, which was attended by a massive turnout of the country’s lawyers.
