The tragedy occurred during the afternoon of this Saturday, February 26, inside a mine in the municipality of Tasco in the department of Boyacá.
Until then, an important group of rescuers was deployed whose fundamental task was to find several miners who were trapped after the explosion inside La Chapa (located between Tasco Socha).
There have been a total of 11 miners found. 4 missing.
The mine did not have permits for exploitation.
In total, 15 miners were reported missing after the emergency.
Of them, a total of 11 have been found dead, there are six identified and they are looking for the other four.
And according to the National Mining Agency, the tragedy was triggered after the collapse of a sinkhole, they indicate “due to the accumulation of gases.”

According to the authorities, said sinkhole had to be in a process of excavation and assembly, but did not have any permission for its exploitation.

What happened in the mine has not only generated a new tragedy that fills many families with pain, however, there is one that today is in mourning for the loss of five of its members.
So far this year there have been 14 mining accidents with 25 fatalities in Boyaca
Fernando Montoya is one of the loved ones of the victims and told Noticias Caracol that he lost his nephews.
“There are five nephews. My brother-in-law Yesid, three children with my sister, my other sister had two children. So five in all. Imagine the pain so great », she said.
