Amilcingo, Mor., A little more than a year after the investigations into the murder of the social fighter Samir Flores Soberanes were carried out by the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR), There is little progress and we are concerned that they will close the case due to the death of the main witnesses
said Liliana Velázquez Fuentes, the activist’s partner.
In interview with The DayLiliana Velázquez pointed out that during the time that the investigation was under the jurisdiction of the Attorney General’s Office of the state of Morelos (FGE), headed at that time by Uriel Carmona, There was no progress, because they always gave us the same answers
. He considered that by passing the case to the FGR the situation would change, however, neither there are great advances
. He explained that they have arrested some people but we do not know if they are responsible or not, we want evidence to show that they were involved in the crime and not just be detained to close the case
.
Given the recent death of the two main witnesses of the investigation, apparently
in accidents, he fears that the case will go unpunished, therefore, he stressed, he continues to demand justice together with his colleagues from the People’s Front in Defense of Land, Air and Water of Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala.
She mentioned that she, her children, and Samir’s parents continue to be in the protection mechanism. She explained that her eldest daughter has had risk situations, as she has participated in various meetings with various communities, therefore, the mechanism protects her individually.
He recognized that the intensity of the resistance in Amilcingo – the town where Samir lived and was murdered – decreased because they killed a person who was important, not only for the community but also for community radio
. She announced that many members, including her, who made up the radio left the project, for safety and personal reasons, some, she said, We no longer want to continue participating because we remember and it hurts us.
.
Amiltzinko community radio was founded by Flores Soberanes, together with other young people in January 2014 on 100.7 FM and emerged to strengthen identity, promote their culture and, also, to defend their territory through community organization , mainly in the Morelos Comprehensive Project, which involved the construction of a thermoelectric plant, a gas pipeline and an aqueduct in the Huexca area.
Velázquez Fuentes hopes that the radio will once again recover the function for which it was created, and will no longer dedicate itself only to transmit cultural messages and musical pleasures
. He asserted that Many times the struggles are like this, we have to allow time to pass for them to gain strength again, for Amilcingo to get back up because we continue to resist.
