Ortega orders 40 more kidnappings and five exiles in the last two weeks

At least 40 new kidnappings and five exiles of Nicaraguans have been carried out by the repressive forces of the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship during the last two weeks, including the expulsion of an entire family where an 11-year-old boy stands out as the victim.

According to the count kept by the independent organization Blue and White Monitoring, between November 22, when the Nicaraguan regime resumed arbitrary arrests of people perceived as opponents, at least 40 citizens have been taken from their homes and taken to places that until now are unknown.

Ana Lucía Álvarez, from the Blue and White Monitoring, during an interview with the Confidencial media, explained that of the 40 kidnapped citizens, at least 32 are still in a condition of “forced disappearance due to concealment of their whereabouts”, since since the day Since their capture at the hands of the Police, nothing has been heard from them.

In a recent statement, the monitoring organization denounces that “the families of those detained have been deprived of information about their whereabouts and condition in a flagrant violation of human rights.”

Likewise, they add that “this is a new raid distinguished by unprecedented cruelty, revealing the regime’s intention to silence any dissident voice through the use of terror.”

The human rights activist details that, of the total number of kidnapped people, three were possibly released and five were exiled. However, Álvarez clarifies that these numbers are preliminary, since they are still in a confirmation process.

If these data are confirmed, adding the 32 who are currently missing, the number of political prisoners would increase to 78, since there were already 46 imprisoned for the same reasons before the new raid.

Álvarez indicated that these cases have been reported from at least 14 departments in the country, although the majority of arrests have been carried out in the west of the country.

A particularity of these kidnappings is that, according to Azul y Blanco, those sent by the Sandinistas have taken notable personalities from the communities, people respected by the population of their communities.

The organization insists, in its statement, on calling on the international community to pressure the Managua regime to stop the systematic persecution and demand “the access of human rights organizations to the country to investigate these crimes and guarantee protection.” of the affected people.

Likewise, it calls for the active solidarity of the peoples and governments of the Americas to stop this escalation of state violence and warns that “the life, integrity and dignity of these detained people is at serious risk,” for which it reiterates that the international community does not can remain silent in the face of these facts.
