Transporters decided to rescind the announced indefinite strike with road blockades scheduled for this Monday, December 9. The determination arises after the neighborhood councils approved paying the Bs 2.37 as a temporary rate. This was reported by Bismark Daza, transportation leader, and Orlando Peña, from the Neighborhood Councils, respectively.
“This issue was politicized, because if they comply with the indefinite strike starting Monday, the victim is the neighbor. I am not a politician, I represent the Neighborhood Councils, the districts and as such we are issuing a resolution, accepting the provisional rate of Bs 2.37, that Mayor Jhonny Fernández himself suggested,” Peña reported this Saturday afternoon, after concluding the meeting between neighbors, social control and transporters.
The neighborhood leader assured that the Bs 2.37 is a ““A rate that the neighbor will be able to cancel, because when they (the micro drivers) stop, the others (taxis, motorcycle taxis and bulls) take advantage by charging up to Bs 10.”
Along the same lines, Peña urged the councilors and the mayor to “fix their problems.”“We are approving the transitional rate, until the Executive and Legislature carry out their technical study,” said the representative in time to sentence “that“We want (the buses) to go out to work on Monday.”
The transporters
“We want to evaluate the attitude of the neighborhood councils, we have debated the situation and The neighbors have given us a rate and we have accepted the Bs 2.37 as something temporary. Therefore, all measures are suspended, transportation will work normally.”Daza stated.
Earlier, the leader of Santa Cruz transportation, Ronald García, informed EL DEBER Radio that this sector could go on a departmental strike starting this Monday the 9th; However, at that time the meeting with the Neighborhood Councils was taking place to later determine the cancellation of the announced strike.
“We are in an emergency and we are going to wait because Fejuve has asked us to wait until 3:00 p.m. But if there is no response on Monday there will be a stoppage of departmental transportation because the intermunicipal and interprovincial sector will join urban transportation,” García said.
The leader added that after concluding the technical tables with the municipal Executive, they thought that they could come out with a municipal decree that would give the green light to “level our rate” at least to collect the rates proposed by the municipality, between Bs Bs 2.18 and Bs 2.37, which they agreed with the neighbors on this Saturday.
