A new controversy bursts onto the Bolivian public scene. And no, it has nothing to do with the unfortunate response of President Luis Arce. The departmental assemblyman Wilfredo Peinado, representative of the province Ángel Sandoval, has already taken charge of complaining to the mandate. To the offensive and accusatory “Cambitas are playing dirty games with us” expressed by the national authority, the good-natured Matieño responded with a sincerity typical of the Cambitas: “It is his (Arce) incompetence for not managing this country well.”
La Paz is declared the best gastronomic destination in Bolivia. Under the motto “La Paz, Latin American Gastronomic Destination” the municipality is projected as a culinary destination thanks to the expansion of its restaurants, the value of its chefs and the affection of the locals. The news has been echoed in Cochabamba where they have claimed their gastronomic leadership with piques and silpanchos.
The arguments in this peculiar debate are, in addition to being tasty, consistent. From the seat of government they claim the throne between steaming llauchas with plenty of cheese and a spicy ulupica, while they wait with the crunchy marraquetas to complete their conquest of palates. Cochabamba defends itself with a stuffed locoto at the entrance. The inevitable spice that seasons their dishes heats up the fight while waiting for the table to be completed with a k’allu, the abundant lapping or the international pique macho. In the distance, in Santa Cruz they wait with their majao and their keperí for the Paceños and Cochabambinos to resolve their disputes. At the table, next to the ‘cambita’, they peacefully debate the saice chapaco, the chuquisaqueño tripe and the potosina calapurka; connoisseurs, yes, it will be a long and tasty debate.
