Bogotá.- The Colombian authorities captured near Bogotá the Dominican Erick Randhiel Mosquea Polanco, alleged leader of a transnational drug trafficking network, who is among the most wanted by the United States Government, which requests his extradition, it was reported this Friday.

“This is the capture of a renowned international drug trafficker who had an arrest warrant from the United States and was captured in the municipality of Chía (near Bogotá) by troops from the Third Brigade,” said the commander of the Colombian Army, General Luis Emilio Cardozo.

The senior officer explained that Mosquea, who will be handed over to the authorities of the Dominican Republic, “had been committing crimes for many years, exporting quantities of drugs to the United States and involved in money laundering for more than 166 million dollars.”

He also said that the detainee, known by the alias ‘The Man’, is accused of making the “largest drug shipment recorded on the island of Puerto Rico in 2017, where the authorities managed to seize approximately two tons of narcotics.” .

In other operations, the authorities of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico seized nearly nine tons of drugs, as did They seized 5.3 million dollars, 130 vehicles including three armored vehicles, 12 luxury properties, seven fuel stations, dozens of commercial premises and several farms.

To commit crimes, Mosquea had several nationalities and false documentation, with different names and surnames in Colombia, Uruguay and the Dominican Republic, the Army added.
