Sheinbaum's government seeks that the 2026 World Cup contributes to the well-being of Mexicans

Mexico seeks that the World Cup in North America, which will take place in 2026, generates jobs, tourism, culture, infrastructure and more sports.

Sheinbaum’s representative invited Infantino to visit Mexico to refine details of the sports event.

Since October, authorities from Mexico, the United States and Canada began a series of training sessions aimed at avoiding anti-competitive behavior at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The training seeks to prevent price manipulation and other practices that could harm consumers during the event.

The Azteca stadium in Mexico City will host the opening ceremony and the first match of the 2026 soccer World Cup, which will also be played in the United States and Canada.

The emblematic Mexican stadium, whose current capacity is about 83,000 spectators, will become the first to celebrate three World Cup openings after those of 1970 and 1986, of which it also hosted the finals.
