Maduro alerts Caricom about provocations by the Southern Command

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, alerted the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) about the provocative actions carried out by Guyanese President Irfaan Ali together with the United States Southern Command.

“CARICOM alert, alert, alert that there is the Southern Command provoking our region and here is Venezuela ready, ready and well planted to defend its historical rights,” he denounced.

President Maduro expressed his firm position for what he considers an attempt to intimidate Venezuela, stating: “They believe they can frighten Venezuela.”

In this sense, he reiterated his call to the CARICOM prime ministers, warning about the situation in Guyana.

“Pending with the former Cooperative Republic of Guyana, which I believe that its history as a Cooperative Republic was betrayed by Irfan Ali, now it will be the colony of the ExxonMobil of Guyana and acts as a colony economically and politically, in everything ExxonMobil rules” , he described.

The Venezuelan President pointed out that this action by the Guyanese ruler is shameful because “nothing moves if he does not have the order from ExxonMobil.”

“It is truly very shameful for the dignity of the people of the Caribbean,” he added.

He also questioned who exercises true military power in Guyana, asking: “Who is the provocateur? Who is the rapist? Who is the surrenderist who drags himself to the militarist interests of the North American empire?

In this regard, he stressed that in Venezuela “we Venezuelans are in charge, our glorious and heroic Bolivarian National Armed Forces.”

One year since the consultative referendum

Maduro recalled that this week marked one year since the consultative referendum for the defense of Essequibo was held, “a significant milestone in our history,” he said.

“In 27 years, we have held 7 referendums, which demonstrated the commitment of the Venezuelan people to democracy,” he said.

The head of state highlighted that these democratic processes reflected the power and voice of the people, comparing them with other nations that faced different challenges on their path to democracy.

“We Venezuelans are leading a true defense of our rights,” he emphasized. “That commitment allowed us to build a free and sovereign Venezuela.”
