Reintegration through technology of women in prisons

On a visit to the representative of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Robyn Fysh, to the Community Technology Center (CTC), the cycle of training directed to women inmates of the Rafey Mujeres and Licey al Medio correctional centers, in Santiago de los Caballeros.

In collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and its initiative “Digital Transformation Centers“(DTCs for its acronym in English), this initiative began, whose main objective is to give inmates the skills basic and intermediate technological technologies for better reinstatement social and achieve favorable job opportunities.

“In terms of impactthere are already stories of women that thanks to these programs of reintegration They left prison early with university certificates. Then also, businessmen who decide to bet on these people and notice benefits in their businesses,” said the representative of the ITU.

The DTCs is a global network with 14 centers worldwide: eight in Africa, four in Asia and the Pacific, one in Morocco and another in America, represented by the CTC. These meet annually to train and update their technicians.

He managing director of the CTCIsidro Torres, also present, expressed his satisfaction with the initiative. “This effort seeks to prepare inmates with skills practical and productive, strengthening their creativity and entrepreneurial capacity to successfully integrate into the labor market and society,” he stated.

Dominican Republic as headquarters of the workshops

During the visit, in addition to addressing the progress of the program and its impactFysh announced that the Dominican Republic will be the headquarters for the workshops training for representatives of the 14 Digital Transformation Center.
