The incident occurred near the former Covid-19 Hospital on Army Avenue, where the S3 PNP Víctor Rivera of the Andahuay Police Station made his waywhen he heard the screams of a woman warning that a child was being swept away by the currents of the Chumbao River.
Without hesitation, the officer jumped a retaining wall of approximately four meters to rescue the minor, so he swam and managed to reach the child, who showed signs of drowning. After taking him to a safe area, the police gave him first aid, causing the child to expel water and regain consciousness.
