The senior prosecutor Elizabeth Peraltaaccused of receiving US$1 million to return five gold bars seized from businessman Javier Miu Lei, surrendered today to the judicial authorities to comply with the 18-month preventive detention order issued yesterday by the Permanent Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court.

According to his lawyer Benji Espinoza, Peralta went to the Palace of Justice, in downtown Lima, at 4:20 pm and made himself available to the court that ordered his arrest.
In a video that he accessed Peru21the suspended Money Laundering prosecutor is seen wearing sunglasses, and wearing a white polo shirt and dark sweatpants.
Espinoza told Canal N that he convinced his client to obey the measure against him, since at first the person under investigation preferred to go underground.
The lawyer announced that he will resort to constitutional means, filing a habeas corpus, to recover the freedom of his client.
Peralta is accused of having requested bribes through his friend, former TV host Andrés Hurtado ‘Chibolín’, to undertake criminal investigations.
According to Iván Siucho, his cousin Miu Lei asked ‘Chibolín’ to intercede with Peralta Santur to attack the Paltarumi company, which was his competition.
“Mission accomplished, my mother did her job,” Hurtado responded to Miu Lei after the investigation against the company began, according to Siucho.
A few days ago, Paltarumi was recognized by the Prosecutor’s Office as aggrieved in this case. The company’s lawyer, Eduardo Roy Gates, announced that they will request civil compensation.

After 7:00 pm, Supreme Judge Liliana Placencia carried out an identity check on the magistrate, who at the end of the procedure asked to speak to highlight that she surrendered of her own free will.
After that, Placencia ordered that the INPE take charge of the person under investigation and refer her to a prison to comply with the court order.
