The rector of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Carlos Quintero, detailed the steps on how to vote in the elections for justices of the peace on December 15 and reported that this Wednesday the lists of candidates were already published.
Quintero explained that each candidate It will be identified with a number, that is, if a communal circuit has 10 candidates, a number will be established for each of them.
“That number is assigned in alphabetical order of the name, so that each candidate in their community can have a reference to the number,” he detailed this Wednesday at a work meeting of the national electoral commission together with the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
He added that on December 13, polling stations will be installed nationwide in the 4,681 circuits, and on Sunday, December 15, the voting process will begin from 8 in the morning to 6 in the afternoon.
How to vote in justice of the peace elections
Step one: The voter arrives at the voting station in a horseshoe that has three steps. He passes where the voting notebook is, where the table president takes the identity card that he must present laminated, even if it has expired; All people over 15 years of age can vote. Your data is recorded in the voting notebook, you are given the voting ballot and you go to the second station where the paraban is.
Step two: In front of the paraban, the voter will see the reference guide of candidates who are identified with a number posted. The ballot has three options, meaning that each voter can vote for three options. You must write three numbers in each of the boxes on the ballot.
Step three: Fold the ballot and place it in the ballot box.
Once the voting is over, the polling station members will have the task of carrying out the counting; At the end of this process, the electoral commission of the communal circuit will be located in the voting center because it will have the function of totalizing and proclaiming the elected candidates.
“This is a positive experience, president, because it is also an opportunity for the electoral power to join the electoral commissions of the Communal Circuits and begin that approach also for, just as the Supreme Court of Justice has this great experience of now training the role of the justices of the peace, I believe that it is an opportunity for the electoral power to also integrate this training process on electoral matters to the electoral commissions of each circuit that are going to have, let’s say, independent responsibility, because they are going to be able to proclaim and award its candidates once the process is closed of voting”, highlighted Rector Quintero.
