A friendship forged on the set of ‘Peter the Scaly’

Aura Helena Prada, who also participated in the successful novel ‘Pedro el escamoso’ and gave life to the character of Mónica Ferreira, shared an emotional memory of her friend Sandra in an interview with Vea magazine. According to Aura, her friendship with Sandra began during the recording of the novel, more than 20 years ago. Although they had known each other before, it was on this project where their bond strengthened.

«Yes, it was in ‘Pedro’ that our friendship was born more than 20 years ago. We kept in touch since we met. We shared many things. “I also like natural things, I’m a little more pragmatic, but we shared,” Aura said, after her friend’s departure.

The actress also told how she found out about Sandra’s diagnosis in the last months of 2023. According to what she said, when the second season of ‘Pedro el escamoso’ was being filmed, Sandra had already been diagnosed with breast cancer. In September 2023, Sandra showed her the mass in her breast, and in October she began medical examinations that confirmed the diagnosis.

The news of Sandra’s death was an unexpected blow for many, but for her close circle, the outcome was not surprising. According to Aura, the actress had spoken openly about her desire to leave in peace, and the outcome came at the moment when her body could no longer take it.

«For those closest to him it was not unexpected, we were really asking that it be soon, due to his situation and the pain he was suffering. Sandra had expressed that she was ready and that she wanted to leave,” said Aura, who was with her friend the day before her death.

Aura highlighted that, in her last days, Sandra was conscious, which for her was a “gift.” According to the actress, being conscious allowed Sandra to reflect on her life, say goodbye to her loved ones and receive all the love that her close circle had for her.

«I think it was a great gift that life gave him and he deserved it, to die with conscience and have the time to reflect, to say goodbye to his loved ones and to tell us all what he wanted to tell us and to listen to those closest to him as well. “All the love we had for him,” Aura said.
