During the Con Maduro+ program, the Minister of Popular Power for Communes and Social Movements, Ángel Prado, spoke to the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, about the upcoming election on December 15, and indicated that there is more of 52 thousand nominated to be judges of the peace in the country “there is great political will throughout the nation, there is a lot of activation ahead of the elections.”
In that sense, he stressed that there were many activities because assemblies were witnessed in the state of Zulia, Apure, Caracas, Anzoátegui, Carabobo and in the indigenous communities “there is a lot of motivation on the part of the population to elect judges of the peace, and in “With this deepening of democracy, the people become more empowered, it becomes a communal culture, and that is what the Venezuelan right fears, that there is no point of return, the people have become empowered.”
He indicated that there are currently 5,297 communal circuits, 4,840 are up for elections, and there are 353 indigenous communities “that are well organized and are respected and recognized as part of our society.” He added that when the justices of the peace are elected, they will report on their management in a citizens’ assembly every six months.
For his part, the vice president of the National Assembly (AN), Pedro Infante, pointed out that the National Electoral Council (CNE) is already beginning to prepare cards for each electoral center and the population knows each candidate. On Wednesday, December 4, the electoral campaign formally begins in the 4,840 communal circuits, “there are 10 full days of campaigning in every corner, this is democratizing justice in all territories and handing over the power of justice to our people.”
Likewise, the vice president of Mobilization of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Nahum Fernández, explained part of the functions that judges of the peace will have in the country and reported that their function is to seek solutions to conflicts within a community “its job is to reconcile between the residents of a specific community, in reference to any conflict.”
The national leader said that the task is to build a new State “the new democracy will be consolidated in its construction by the hand of intelligence, knowledge and the creative powers of the people. For this reason, more than five thousand communal circuits, throughout Venezuela, will elect the Judges of the Peace with the popular vote.
«For the election of Justices of the Peace, we have more than 52 thousand candidates. We have completed the first stage. Now, we are going to the electoral campaign, to learn about the Law, the merits and capabilities of the candidates and mobilize the people, who go out to decide their destiny in the Communal Justice of Peace,” he added.
