Sapallanga floods: Schoolchildren hold classes outdoors and residents lose property (VIDEOS)

An intense rain and hailstorm affected the district of Sapallanga at around 5:30 on Monday, December 2, schoolchildren from the Chinchaysuyo Institution held classes outdoors, while crying mothers asked the authorities for help since their belongings got wet with the water and their domestic animals drowned.

Residents lose crops and animals

The residents of the Hoyada sector spent an afternoon of terror, the hail and rain entered their homes and devastated everything, such is the case of the family of Mrs. Paulina Muñoz, who through tears tells that about 20 guinea pigs drowned. They tried to protect their clothes, laptop, furniture and mattresses, however, to no avail.

Other families, such as Salvatierra and Muñoz, were also affected in a similar way, as they lost pets, children’s school supplies, clothing, mattresses, cell phones and utensils were lost. More than 10 hours after the emergency occurred, the neighbors stated that the municipal authorities did not come closer, which is why they called the mayor.

Schoolchildren receive classes outdoors

One of the educational institutions affected was the Chinchaysuyo school, where about 75 students ended up doing classes on the sports field due to the risk of collapse of the classrooms, even a part of the ceiling ended up falling on the back of a student.

The mayor of the Sapallanga district, Miguen Angel Paitán, went to the school on Tuesday, December 3, in the morning, and announced that until that moment he had counted 50 hectares of damaged potato and corn crops, 10 affected houses in critical condition and 40 with minor damage, 2 educational institutions flooded, as well as the health centers of Sapallanga and Miraflores. In this regard, he said that they will finish accounting for the damages to provide the relevant help.
