Vaguada maintains its incidence with rains over the country; 5 provinces on green alert

Vaguada mantiene su incidencia con lluvias sobre el país; 5 provincias en alerta verde

Santo Domingo.-One trough frontal located in the north of the country will continue to generate a favorable environment for increased cloudiness with weak, moderate to strong rains, thunderstorms and gusts of wind, reported this Tuesday the National Institute of Meteorology (Indomet).

These rains will be in Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, El Gran Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Monte Plata, Santiago, San Juan and Santiago Rodríguez, among others nearby, according to Meteorology.

Given the announced downpours, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) issued a green alert for the provinces of Montecristi, Puerto Plata, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal and María Trinidad Sánchez due to possible flooding of rivers, streams and ravines, as well as urban flooding and rural areas, also possible landslides.

Likewise, a cold front will cause a humid and unstable environment, generating cloudiness, weak to moderate rains, becoming strong at times, electrical storms and gusts of wind, in the towns of María Trinidad Sánchez, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, Puerto Plata, Monte Cristi , Samana.

Indomet said that they will extend to Duarte, La Vega, Santiago, Valverde and others nearby, lasting into the afternoon and evening of this Wednesday.

Maritime conditions will be abnormal, therefore small boat operators are recommended to remain in port, from Manzanillo Bay in Monte Cristi to Cabo Francés Viejo in María Trinidad Sánchez.

From Cape Francés Viejo to Cabo Engaño in La Altagracia, it is recommended to navigate close to the coastal perimeter. due to increased waves offshore.
