Created under the maxim of Martí “with everyone and for the good of all”, the new headquarters of the Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba (LADC), the MaleconART 255 building, is getting ready to start with the dance workshops and start its journey as an initiative multi-space focused on art instruction and entertainment.
At MaleconART 255 lies the local development project Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba Plus (LADC+), which, according to its director and also founder of the company, “has the dream of growing, dedicated work, good energy and the will to each one of its members, the first of them, from a distance, the beloved Eusebio Leal”.
Lizt Alfonso commented that, under the aforementioned principle of the National Apostle, the place will receive girls and boys, young people, adults, and older adults.
“We will have dance in all possible styles, talks, book presentations and readings, audiovisual projections, theater movies, plastic arts and more,” Alfonso said during the special opening of the venue, with few guests and the press.
“The idea of a local development project comes to us because the way in which what we have today is structured does not allow us to develop further and offer a series of services and activities that we can and want to carry out, but that, as It was not within our corporate purpose, we could not do it”, he explained.
Establishing the local project, he details, gives the possibility of doing all those things that interest them as a company, in an established way, with everything transparent.
“The team is made up of young people trained in LADC, who will surely work hard in the daily attempt to make us all happy,” he added.
From this Monday, February 28, registration will be open for ballet workshops, Cuban and Afro-Cuban popular dances, flamenco and urban dances.
Everything is going to start, as Alfonso said, step by step, and for now, they will work at MaleconART 255 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, although the plan for the future is to open from early in the morning until dawn.
The director of LADC made it clear that there are no requirements to enroll in the workshops, although discipline is required within the place and a lot of interest in learning, enthusiasm; the prices, she said, will be reasonable and the scholarships will be maintained.
MaleconART 255 is located at Malecón #255 and Galiano, near the Hotel Deauville, the building previously housed other institutions such as the Cuban Association for the United Nations (ACNU), the Spanish Cultural Institute and the headquarters of the Irene Rodríguez Company.
